Bagged my first gekko this morning

Did anyone else read Gerald Durrell's books about his childhood in Corfu? I devoured them and have held a mental image (a 'phantasm' according to Aristotle) of Corfu as a kind of sleepy, sunny, dusty, friendly Mediterranean paradise ever since.

Anyway, gekkos figured prominently in those books.

Sunning himself.

Hiding.

There seem to be two kinds who hang out at the train station in Santa Marinella. This kind with the stripes and brilliant green, and another, darker variety that is shorter and no stripes.

I figure that by the time I'm done, I'll have created a complete photographic record of the wildlife, flora and fauna, of the train station at Santa Marinella. Maybe they'll give me a plaque.
